Is 2024 the Year of the GOP?

For almost two decades, too often voters have heard, “This is the most important election of our lifetime!”  Quite frankly, that has been true. There is division across all social and political agendas. The result has been a back and forth amid electoral results. Each side having small successes trying to move their agenda forward, but not yet able to tie the knot so that there is no return to what was.

Make no mistake, for many decades the Democratic Party has made the greatest strides. They stick together through thick and thin. They will “eat their young” for the “greater good” of their agenda. The GOP has had spurts of that during Reagan, George W, and Trump. Having stated that, I have never witnessed the GOP display the continued dedication the Democratic Party has committed to. In my humble opinion, the GOP agenda has played second fiddle while the GOP and Democratic ruling classes have run the show. This last decade it has come to a head. With the media now flaunting their support of the Democratic Party, the complete takeover of education and total division among the peasants, the culture is in the tank. May I also add to this problem, the corruption of the voting process to this elitist plutocracy?

The recent improper voting processes need to be resolved and not allow illegal ballots (which includes ballot harvesting) to be counted, PERIOD! Secondly, the GOP must get out the early vote as well. It must make sure there are no votes left on the table. If the GOP waits until election day to vote as we traditionally do, we lose the election from top to bottom. Lastly, Voter Id laws need to be established. There can be only one reason anyone can be against these laws; they aren’t playing by the rules in the first place.

In New York, the state is trying to manipulate the voting process again in 2024. A new law was signed by the governor to make federal, state and local elections all the same year. This is nothing more than a scam to try and use turnout to alter local elections from traditional outcomes. If the law is upheld, local issues of importance will not be heard over the rhetoric of state and federal bureaucracy. The state and Democratic Party are also trying to change the voting district maps, again! The people and the courts have repeatedly told them No! Their answer was to appoint a friendly judge and try to get the fair maps approved in 2022 overturned.

All this information begs the question, “Is 2024 the Year of the GOP?”  The answer is, it can be!  Locally, we just swore in Supreme Court Justice Cheryl Insigna. That was a great start. In Tioga County, we have been blessed with strong republican numbers for a long time. That can make an organization complacent. While Tioga Republicans still have about a 2-1 edge in registrations, the number of independents and blanks are increasing every year.  A lot of that can be attributed to migration from Tompkins County, the division in the country and a decreasing faith in many of our elected officials, top to bottom.

To help to stem the tide in Tioga County, the Republican Committee will become more active.  You will see more public engagement, engaging our youth, more exposure for our up-and-coming Committee members and much more. Our website and Facebook page will be more engaging. We will also upgrade the way donors can help the cause right here in Tioga County.

We will be facing tough races throughout the state. We are fortunate to have two quality state leaders in our district. Senator Tom O’Mara and Assemblyman Chris Friend. Both have been here for Tioga County repeatedly. I want to give a shout out to Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler. He will be running for State Senate in 2024. His district will surround Tioga County and will be a great asset to our community if elected.

Congressman Marcus Molinaro will have a tough re-election but very winnable. He has been very supportive of Tioga County. He has been very accessible and always is straightforward. You know where he stands on the issues. That is the way a public official should be.  You’re never going to be in 100% agreement with anyone. Having the candor to be honest with your constituency is rare in today’s politics. He represents the majority of Tioga County’s values and deserves re-election.

The biggest prize will be the presidency. Obviously, the people on our side of the isle are tired of government being used as a weapon against its citizens, tired of the double standard in the judicial system and very tired of Hunter Biden, the “Big Guy” and pay to play government. We are tired of foreign policy that has not only us, but the world unsafe.  We are tired of a border policy that is letting murderers, drug dealers and terrorists in. We are tired of children and women being trafficked. We are tired of an energy plan that lowers everyone’s quality of life and diminishes our defense system. We are tired of a failing economy being propped up by government spending and the media spinning the illusion all is getting better.

We have a lot of work to do! First will be electing a nominee.  After that, the most important thing that needs to happen is everyone gets behind that nominee; no matter who it is. At the moment, it looks like it will be Donald Trump. Unlike the democrats, we will have a primary and the republican voters will decide. For a party touting they are the party promoting democracy, they sure are worried about providing a democratic process for their members. Actions speak louder than rhetoric. I find it amusing that all of the sudden a Kennedy is not worthy of being on a democratic ballot.  That tells you how far this party has gone left.

There is a lot of work ahead for the GOP if they want to have a successful November. That work starts at the local level. It is going to take neighbor speaking with neighbor, working on campaigns, putting up signs, knocking on doors and passing information across social media. It will take levelheaded thinking when you are attacked for being who you are. Lastly it will take a strong “get out the vote” effort along with making sure only legal ballots are counted. Participating in early voting is imperative nationwide for republicans to be successful. I strongly encourage you to pledge to vote early at https://ny.bankyourvote.com/.

Is 2024 the year of the GOP?  You bet it is, but it is going to take YOU to help make it happen!
